In September 2004 I had severe Cellulitis in my left lower leg. The Cellulitis traveled into my lymph node. I spent 5 weeks in the hospital.
I also developed a skin ulcer that needed surgery. it took a long time for my leg to heal.
There is severe scaring in my leg and it always looks purple and very bumpy. My doctors and I went to over 5 said that it was cronic cellulitis and that it would never go away or get any bettter. And that I had to deal with the pain, swelling and ugliness of the leg.
I was checking to see about cronic cellulitis and I came across Lymphedema. I saw a picture of my leg. I then found a wonderful Lymphedema doctor named Dr Kathleen Francis in Livingston, NJ.
It has been 2 1/2 years and my leg has good days and bad days. I always have pain in the leg that gets worse in the cold. The color has improved too. I always wear a pant that I can pull up to show doctors and nurses what Lymphedema is.
I do not want to wish what I went through on anyone.

I was just catching up on postings on the forums and read your story. You really had quite a battle with cellulitis.

You said that you had recovered and I really hope you continue to healthy.

I also wish those who are new to lymphedema could read stories such as this so they would know that cellulitis is SERIOUS and not something to be messed with.

Stay Well.

Wanda,
