I'm a teen with Lymphedema

hi my name is Andy and i have been diagnosed with lymphedema in my right arm. I was only diagnosed a week ago but my arm has been big for about 6 weeks. I am looking for other teens who have this so that maybe i can meet other teens and see how they deal with it and maybe make some new friends.

Welcome! I hope you find this site useful.
I'm a little curious, can you tell me what treatment they have planned for you?
I have primary lymphoedema and I started treatment six years ago. I'm 26 now. I have it in both arms and hands, and I had it throughout my teenage years.
I never had contact with other lymphoedema people when I was growing up.
I'm interested in hearing how you manage things yourself :)

well right now they are just having me wear a compression garment and i have a stress ball to squeeze but thats about it. I am just trying to stay out of the heat because that makes me swell up like a balloon. Thanks for replying to my post!:D

Hey Andy.

I'm 17 and have lymphedema in my right leg. It doesn't slow me down though or keep me from doing things that somebody without lymphedema can do.

It's cool to hear about someone my age out there with LE. Do you have AIM?

Hey Andy,

I'm Alexa, and I'm 16 and I have lymphedema in my right foot and ankle.. I have just recently started to use a compression stocking at night and when I'm just bumming around the house.. What treatments have they advised for you?

I am extremely self conscious about my condition, and have even adapted certain ways of sitting or standing so that my lymphedema ankle is out of view. Everyone tells me it isn't that noticeable but I always feel like it's the first thing everyone sees. Do you have any ways that you deal with this? I'd be curious to know..

My 26 month old daughter has LE in her left foot and ankle. Just wanted to welcome you and let you know we are here. Any advice you can give to someone whose daughter will be growing up with this condition as you ave would be most helpful.
