I've seen a lot of information recently on exfoliation products for skin care. It sounds like a great idea; however, I was wondering if it would be helpful on skin affected by lymphedema.
Does anyone out there have any ideas? Helpful information would be appreciated.

Like you, I've seen the hype on exfolation products. I even received a sample in the mail -- and the "lotion" felt like sand.
In the April 2004 issue of "O Magazine" there is an article about these products. The quote from Harold Brody, MD (on page 228) has good information, ". . . it won't improve the health of your skin."
Skin affected by lymphedema needs lots of TLC! If you are considering any of these treatments on affected areas of skin you need to do two things first: (1) consult your therapist for recommendations, and (2) be sure to inform your dermatologist or esthetician that you have lymphedema!
I hope this answers your questions!

Hi This is my first visit to this site...I'm thrilled to have found it...I was born with Lymphedema in 1949...no one could name the condition for me as it affects the left side of my face (neck/ear). Is there anyone else on this site with facial lymphadema...I have never met or heard of anyone......I would love to know of anyone in a similar situation
