This is the first time I have come across this website and I really feel relieved that some of the strange things I have delt with have also happened to others, very comforting. I have had lymphedema for about 20 years now since I was 11. I have had nothing but problems with finding a doctor who has ANY knowlage
of my condition. I actually had to travel to UCLA medical center to be diagnosed. I initally had the lymphedema in only my right leg and for many years I have worn the stocking on that leg only. A couple of years ago my left leg started to slightly swell and now I wear the stockings on both. So I guess it came move to another limb??? I had something else strange happen last week, my foot was leaking lymph fluid from a small "pimple" looking spot. My whole foot was soaked when I came home from work, this continued for 3 days. I am extremely concerned about infection ( of course) as anybody with this condition. The area was kept clean and I put ointment on it and kept it as dry as I could. Well on the fourth day I seemed to have developed a rash around my ankle and top of my foot. I panicked of course and went to urgent care. I was pretty much told that he didn't feel like I was infected and if an antibiotic would "make me feel better" he would give me a Rx. I was given Cephalexin 500mg 4xday. I fell that it feels slightly better, but not enough. I now have four larger bumps, like bug bites that are very sore around that area now. I have been taking the antibiotic now for 4 days and I was wondering if anyone else has had anything similar to this?

Defintely sounds like Cellulitis. This is what I had all over. Well, to be exact My legs were constantly leaking lymph, my hips and my stomach and even on my backside. Very painful and distressing! I thought I would go mad! I was put in the hospital, where they put me on the Antibiotics that are liquid through an IV. This seems to get to the bloodstream fast than the pills. Sounds to me like your Doctor is not very well informed. Check with a Dermatologist. That is who diagnosed me and treated mine. I had it so bad I had the fibrosis. The therapist that I saw in the hospital, mainly washed the area with an antifungal soap and wrapped my leg with the Unna Boots. I had to wear them for about a year or so. I haven't had any leaking since. That has been about 4 years since I was hospitalized. Hope you do well. If you continue to leak fluid from your body, I would find a Dermatologist (Specialty) at a hospital.
