I have been using compression hose and also a Compression pump for my lower extremities. Could this case lymph to build up in my abdomen?
I have i.b.s. , but it has been worse since getting Lymphedema

I have swelling in my stomach off and on. It takes awhile for it to go down, but with correct daily massage it goes down. I am sorry you are suffering. I know this can be disheartening. The therapist showed me how to massage. It is harder for my stomach to go down sometimes, but eventually it does. If you massage to the right of your belly button with a downward motion and then push up on your stomach mainly on that right side toward your belly button, to help the lymph drain and then back again at the right side of your belly button, making sure not to forget first the site up around your neck and that needs to be done inward and downward gently. I am not as gentle on my stomach, because it gets really hard and you have to work at getting that lymph to drain. I wish you well.

I too have much lymph fluid in my stomach area. It's the hardest place for me to get the fluid moving out of. Yes, the massage helps, my new pump helps as well but it's just so sloooow. All of the fluid from my lower extremeties goes up into my stomach and butt and it gets huge! I so wish this process was faster. I've been dealing with this for 9 mos and have yet to see even 1 lb of difference on the scale from loosing fluid. It's all very frustrating. :(

I used the pump on my legs and it was very effective except it pushed all the fluid to my abdomin and groin. It's really tuff moving the fluid from here. It actually moves into my scotum and that's a big problem. Imagine losing your manhood and being less than effective on the toilet. I don't do much any more cause I'm too embarressed about my condition. The pannus, between my legs, is so big I walk bowlegged. Don't know how to decrease the size of this new appendage. I need help badly!

Larry,
I feel for you. I had this issue in my female genitals and it was a nightmare so as I man, it must be worse! I have found that water exercise truly was the ONE thing that made a difference. While the fluid is once again pooling in my stomach, the rest of my body from that point down is truly better. Now I have fluid in my chest and it's making it very hard to breath. If I find something that works in that area besides manual massage ( and that does help), I will certainly let you know.
Stay strong and don't give up!!!

I don't care what gender the genitals are the disfigurement that your body goes through is sad. Thanks for your thoughts Pinkbear and my prayers go out to you as well. I wanted to start a new thread but couldn't figure out how so if you must move this I'll understand. I have been very negative about LE so here's some help. Try cycling! I started this in 08 and my legs have become very manageable. Cycling causes your muscles to act like a pump and pump the fluid out. Next to the hands on from my therapist cycling has been a major pleasure in my world of LE. Don't be fooled by the pump. It isn't as helpful as one might think.
PS Pinkbear, I've been through the breathing difficuly this past August and almost died as a result of not being able to breathe. Docs didn't know what was going on because all my tests came back negative. Their final diagnosis was congestive heart. That's a joke! Keep in touch PB. PM me if you like.

I have Lymphedema in my abdomen also and a hernia, I think it was caused by using the pump, in my opinion. I am on Disability , so I do not have any insurance now, at least I can pay my bills and go to a clinic, that does not understand Lymphedema.
